CSPA celebrates International Women’s Day in Belfast

International Women’s Day in Belfast last week saw the unveiling of New Statues to two remarkable Belfast Women in the grounds of Belfast City Hall.

At the launch were Roisin Lilley , CSPA Executive Council Reserved Women’s Representative & Tony McMullan , CSPA NI Secretary.

Roisin and Tony are pictured in front the statue of Mary Ann McCracken, born in 1770 she was an abolitionist, feminist , radical & humanitarian ( pictured below right).

The second statue celebrates Winifred Carney , born in 1887 , was a Trade Unionist , socialist & and secretary & close confidant of the legendary Irish/Scottish socialist James Connolly (pictured below left).
